Abaana Choir

Over the Easter weekend, Kent College was delighted to host the Abaana New Life Choir from Uganda during their three month tour of the UK. Abaana is an Irish based charity which works in Uganda building schools and funding children's education. Their firm belief is that the way out of extreme poverty is a good education, something which is still unavailable to many of the children in that country. They have so far built 13 schools and sponsor many pupils through their education, children who would often otherwise be on the streets.

The choir consisted of 20 of those children aged between 7 and 14 who sang and danced to the delight of the audience at special fundraising concert in a packed Tonbridge Methodist Church. The choir then stayed overnight at the school, greatly enjoying the hospitality and only wishing they could stay longer. The concert itself raised over £2200 for the charity's continuing work.
