Higher EducationOf the school leavers who applied for Higher Education for 2019 over 80% were accepted onto their first choice of destination. The Careers department prepares students for life beyond Kent College and the exciting opportunities that await. Our innovative programme includes employer and alumni engagement, skills workshops and talks designed to support young people as they learn about themselves ensuring that they become independent thinkers able to make well informed choices about their future, whatever path they choose. We take a strategic approach to our career learning programme, adopting the principles laid out by the government’s recommended Gatsby benchmarks for career guidance, this means that Kent College students are well prepared for their future beyond school. Many of our students go on to higher education, including Oxbridge, Russell Group and at leading global educational institutions. While some young people will have a clear idea about their future pathway, many others will be unsure. Throughout Sixth Form, students are guided through their post -18 options and the UCAS application process. As well as advice and guidance about CV and personal statement writing, we focus on equipping young people with the skills they need to make the right choices for their future. Students have access to the resources and advice they need, including drop-in sessions with our professionally qualified Head of Careers and Head of Oxbridge. In the last three years students have left in the Upper Sixth to study in the following institutions:
