Kent College celebrates another year of academic success

Despite the changes to the A-Level system leading to trepidation nationally around this year’s results, Kent College is celebrating yet another year of successful A-Level outcomes. Demonstrating a commitment to a broad education, Kent College achieved excellent results with 70% of all grades being an A*, A or B

Kent College girls did extremely well across the board in all subjects. In particular, 65% of girls achieved an A* or A in Maths, 100% achieved an A*, A or B in English and 100% of Fine Art students achieved an A* or A grade.

With over 29 A-Levels on offer, as well as the Extended Project Qualification, Kent College girls are able to choose from a very wide range of subjects, ensuring that a variety of university courses are open to them.

Julie Lodrick, Headmistress said. ‘In the context of the biggest exam shake-up for a generation, I’m delighted that Kent College has maintained its academic results. The staff and I are extremely proud of all the girls; they have worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserve their success.’

Bea, was delighted to have been awarded three A*s, despite having had cardiothoracic surgery three days before her exams. The determination and resilience she showed throughout was inspiring to both her teachers and friends.

Sam, who was awarded an A* and two As will be studying Engineering and Chemistry at Bristol University said ‘I’m over the moon! I’m so grateful to all of the teachers. I’m ecstatic to be going to Bristol to be doing a masters in Chemistry.’

Katie, who this morning celebrated one A* and two As and will be studying Music at Manchester University commented ‘I’m so happy with my results. I’ve had a really good connection with my teachers and I’ve been given so much help. I’ve had lots of support from my friends.’

Theodora will be attending University of Birmingham to study Psychology, after having achieved one A* and two As, said ‘I’m overwhelmed and really happy that all the hard work has paid off!’

GCSE 2017


Following the A-Level results last week, Kent College is celebrating yet another successful set of GCSE outcomes with 51% of all grades awarded at an A or A*.

Kent College girls achieved excellent results across the board. In particular, 100% of students studying Further Maths secured either an A* or A and 81% achieved an A* or A in English Literature. Kent College has a strong commitment to developing girls’ creativity and 80% of all grades in Drama were an A* or A.

Kent College has a breadth of GCSE and IGCSE options on offer, from Maths to Textiles, Economics to Latin. With the launch of the new Sport and Wellbeing afternoons, an increase in teaching time and a bespoke timetable at GCSE and A-Level, Kent College ensures that girls enjoy a balanced education that enables them to do well academically and also develop their individual skills and talents.

Julie Lodrick, Headmistress commented, ‘I am delighted with the results. The girls should be very proud of their individual achievements which are testament to their hard work and dedication. I feel that our results reflect our commitment to a broad and balanced education and our nurturing approach to ensure that every girl fulfils her potential.   The staff and I wish the girls every success as they embark on the next stage of their education in the Sixth Form.’

Amelia will be studying History, RS, English and Psychology at A-Level, achieved five A*s and six As. She said, ‘I really can’t believe it! All the hard work has paid off.’

Georgia balanced being on the England Under 16 Hockey training squad and the ASSE development programme with her academic studies and achieved four A*s, five As and two Bs. She said ‘It’s gone really well. The teachers have done so many extra things which helped me to go into the exams feeling really confident. I’m really looking forward to KC Sixth Form.’

Olivia will be studying Economics, Spanish, Geography and Politics for A-Level after having gained eight A*s, two As and one B. '‘I am truly grateful to my teachers. Their support has been second to none; I wouldn’t have got these grades without them’
