Outdoor education is a thriving area at Kent College.
The on-site Confidence Course has a variety of obstacles designed to offer differing challenges to students and was generously funded by the Kent College Parents Association in 2008.
Apparatus includes walls, balance beams, a postman's walk, monkey bars, a bouldering wall, zip wire and 30ft abseil tree. In October 2012 the Kent College Parents' Association raise donations to have an indoor Climbing Wall built in the school sports hall.
In the summer term, our Year 13 School Officers have a team building weekend using the outdoor facilities. This helps them to improve their problem solving and team work as well as encouraging confidence, self esteem and leadership skills
In addition to the confidence course, students have the opportunity for raft building and raft races on a separate lake in the grounds of the school and we offer climbing (using the indoor climbing wall) and Confidence Course as weekly clubs.
Before joining Kent College prospective pupils can enjoy the opportunity to use our Confidence Course facilities on Fun Days and Welcome Mornings.
Year 8 and 9 have specific activity days in the summer term and students also get the opportunity to use the Confidence Course and Climbing Wall apparatus during after school clubs.
The Kent College Sponsored WalkEach year the whole school, (plus parents and dogs) takes part in this event to raise donations for the school's charities and sister school in KC Nepal. The route is carefully planned every year around the villages of Pembury and Matfield and students usually walk 5 miles in the morning and a further 5 miles in the afternoon.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
We offer the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Bronze Silver and Gold levels. Throughout the year training takes place and when girls are fully prepared, they embark on their qualifying expedition.
Outdoor Education Trips
Year 9 have the opportunity to join Tonbridge School on a Geography / Outdoor Education trip the Ardeche in the May half-term holiday.
Kent College Ski Trip
Kent College runs a bi-annual ski trip to a resort in Italy which is always very popular and includes pupils from both the Prep & Senior School. This is usually held in the Easter holidays.
Kent College Nepal
Sixth Form students take part in annual visits to our sister school in Lahachok, Pokhara Nepal. These are always highly anticipated and life-changing trips where the girls see first hand how their fundraising at school affects this nepalese community. Students also take their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition amongst the breathtaking nepalese mountains.
