New School Chaplain

Kent College to welcome the Reverent Ruth Jeffries as new School Chaplain

Kent College Pembury is delighted to announce that the Reverent Ruth Jeffries will join the school in September 2021 as School Chaplain. She replaces Jonathon Todd who retires in the summer.

Ruth studied Music at the University of Huddersfield before teaching Music and Drama in a Lancashire secondary school. With the rekindling and development of her faith, she went to study Theology at Cliff College and subsequently trained for Methodist Ministry at Wesley House, Cambridge. She has served as Minister on the Wirral and most recently in Market Drayton, Shropshire as Superintendent Minister.

Ruth said, “I am so happy to be taking up the role and work of School Chaplain at Kent College. My calling into education has been developing over recent years and I look forward to finally seeing that come to fruition. My experience of the school so far highlights the value of a truly holistic approach to education, and working with all the school community around spiritual development and well-being will be my delight. My passions are chocolate, films, board-gaming and the desire for each individual to know themselves, to be loved and understand their unique value. I’m simply excited to get to know everyone!”

Julie Lodrick, Headmistress at Kent College said, “We are delighted to welcome Ruth to Kent College.  Her warmth, empathy and good humour shone out at interview and we are looking forward to welcoming Ruth and her family next September, when they move from Market Drayton and establish their home here on site.”
