The Local Area

Kent College is situated on a beautiful 75-acre site in the village of Pembury, just three miles from the town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Locally there is a rich history and heritage to explore, and trips to the cultural capital of London are frequently arranged. Kent is known as 'The Garden of England', representing the English countryside at its best with a landscape of rolling hills, wooded valleys, orchards, vineyards and many fruit farms. Among the picturesque Kentish villages you will find splendid castles, gardens and historic houses.

Royal Tunbridge Wells has been a fashionable spa town since the 17th century when it became popular among royalty and aristocracy. Today it is an affluent town with a modern shopping centre at one end, and at the other is the historic Pantiles, the colonnaded shopping street where you can sample the Chalybeate spring water.

The school is ideally located in a safe, wealthy and rural part of south-east England which has good transport links. Central London is just 40 minutes away by train (London Bridge or Charing Cross to Tonbridge) and Gatwick and Heathrow international airports are about an hour away by car. Seaports and the Channel Tunnel are within easy access for travel to Europe.

At the beginning and end of each term the school organises taxis to take the girls to and from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
