International Study
Kent College welcomes students from all over the world to be part of our school community, where they receive an outstanding and well-rounded education at a leading British independent day and boarding school.
We view every student as an individual learner with their own strengths and passions, and offer a wide range of GCSE and A Level options to meet every interest. We timetable our subjects to guarantee that a student’s choice can be met by the school, and our results are exceptional due to the hard work of our students and excellence of our teaching.
Life at Kent College is rich and diverse allowing each student to find their own interests inside and outside the classroom. International students make up one fifth of the Senior School so they are able to become immersed in British life and make friends with local day students. Weekend activities allow them to have fun whilst exploring our beautiful local area and learning about British culture.
Our Students
International Study Programme
International Study Programme
Students whose first language is not English are supported by specialist teachers through our International Study Programme. Depending on the level of English, students have a programme of English as an Additional Language (EAL) support designed to help them make fast progress to access the British curriculum. They are taught in small groups or one-to-one, and EAL teachers work closely with subject teachers to ensure a student's EAL support is tailored to help them succeed.
Our international students achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level, and go on to top universities both in the UK and abroad. They also achieve exam success in Cambridge English Preliminary, Cambridge English First, Cambridge English Advanced and IGCSE English as a Second Language.
Sixth Form Foundation Programme
Sixth Form Foundation Programme
Our three-year Sixth Form Foundation Programme enables international students to obtain a GCSE in English as a Second Language and a GCSE in Maths in the first year, both required for entry into university in the UK. Upon the successful completion of this year, students will start their study of three A Levels or BTECs over the next two years. Sixth Form Foundation students are based in the Sixth Form throughout their time at Kent College.
This is a flexible and individualised approach to GCSE and A Level study ideal for students aged 15 or 16 whose level of English may not yet be ready for A Level study, not have the GCSE's required for University entry, or who have not met the entry requirements to study their chosen A Levels.
Short Term Study
Our Short Term Study Programme is for international students seeking to improve their English and experience a British education. Students can stay from one to six weeks for a short term intensive programme, or from one term to one year.
This experience boosts each student’s English through specialised EAL teaching and lessons alongside English speakers. There is also an exciting cultural programme and opportunities to take part in a wide range of extra curricular activities.
