Sixth Form Success
STEM Success
Many of the top grades awarded mean Kent College students will be heading to leading universities to study STEM subjects. With over 42% of Maths and Further Maths grades awarded at A*-A, the school is delighted that Eleanor’s A* and 2A’s take her to Bristol to study Maths, and Mila with 2A*’s and an A will head to Durham to study Maths and Statistics. Emily’s straight A*’s will see her going to York to read Biology. Vicky’s 3A’s means she will study Architecture at Nottingham and Hannah’s 4 A Levels including 2A*’s and an A take her to Bristol to study Civil Engineering.
Breadth of Top Grades
Students also achieved the highest grades in English with over 50% at A*-A, PE BTEC with over 80% at the top level, and 80% of Art, Textiles and Photography grades are at A*-A. In Psychology over a third of grades were A*, and over half of the EPQ grades were A*-A. Grace’s 4 straight A*’s will see her heading to St. Andrews to study Theology, and Olivia 3A’s means she will study Politics and Psychology at Glasgow. Jasmine’s 2A*’s and an A will take her to Durham to read Philosophy and Psychology. Charlotte achieved 2A*’s, and A and a B which will see her read English at UCL.
Kent College aims to ensure that every student has the opportunity to find their strengths and talents, and this is reflected by the wide range of subjects they will head off to study this autumn. These include Law at York, Spanish and Management at UCL, Graphic Design at Kingston and Film Studies at Lancaster.
Head, Miss Katrina Handford commented:
‘The best part of being in education is celebrating the students’ successes with them and today has seen just that, with smiling faces all round. I couldn’t be happier for the students and look forward to seeing them progress onto their varied and ambitious next chapters with a great Kent College education behind them. They can step into the world with confidence and have very bright futures ahead.’
