The Power of Partnerships
In September 2023, the WK ISSP launched a joint two-year GCSE in Astronomy, the first time this GCSE has been offered in Kent. Students from Kent College, The Judd School and The Skinners’ School collaborate online for lessons, enabling teachers to exchange innovative teaching methods and best practices. This GCSE, along with the other WK ISSP activities that include lectures and masterclasses, broadens students' horizons and inspires them to explore new interests and career paths.
Outside of the WK ISSP, Kent College has enjoyed many other successful partnerships with state schools this year. These have included a Languages Day, an entrepreneurial workshop, and collaborative activities with Oakley Special School to develop social and emotional interactions and build friendships. Kent College hosted Prep for Paris, an Olympic sporting afternoon with 250 local primary school children enabling them to experience new sports.
By engaging with peers from different backgrounds often with diverse perspectives, students develop empathy and cultural understanding and are inspired to become kinder, more compassionate individuals, aware of the world around them and ready to become the global citizens of the future.
